Portugal has waves year-round. Winter (October to March) produces the largest and most consistent waves, especially in the North and Centre. Summer is better for beginners — smaller, more manageable waves. Autumn is, for many surfers, the ideal season: growing swell, water still warm from summer, and fewer people.
