About this beach
Cabedelo Beach sits on the south bank of the Lima river estuary, facing the city of Viana do Castelo in the district of the same name on the Costa Verde. With more than 3 kilometres of golden sand and regular waves that attract surfers and kitesurfers from across Europe, it is one of the best surf spots in north-west Portugal. A ferry crossing from Viana do Castelo provides a unique river journey. It holds the Blue Flag and full beach support services throughout the bathing season.
