Praia Fluvial do Clube Náutico de Avis lies on the shore of the Maranhão Reservoir, next to the town of Avis, in Portalegre district (Alto Alentejo). It is the only river beach in Alto Alentejo to hold the Blue Flag, an award it has kept since 2021 and renewed for the 2026 bathing season (1 July to 13 September). The beach sits within the Avis Nautical Club complex, close to the town centre, with a shell-shaped sandy area bordered by grass and trees sloping gently down to the water.

Because it sits on a reservoir fed by the Avis and Seda rivers, the size of the sandy area shifts through the year with the dam's water level. The complex has a boathouse for canoe and stand-up paddleboard hire, a rowing training lane and solar boat tours, plus municipal swimming pools, a picnic area and a children's playground nearby. Lifeguard cover is in place during the official bathing season. Dogs are not allowed in the bathing area.
