Galapinhos Beach
Sesimbra, Setúbal
About this beach
Praia de Galapinhos is one of Portugal's greatest hidden treasures, voted Best Beach in Europe in 2017 by Which? Travel and considered one of the most beautiful and preserved beaches on the European continent. Located in the heart of the Arrábida Natural Park, on the Setúbal Peninsula, this paradise beach is accessible only via a hiking trail through pine trees and Mediterranean scrubland, which helps maintain its most precious characteristic: the absence of construction and completely untouched nature. The emerald and turquoise waters are so clear that the seabed is visible even at several metres depth, making snorkelling and diving an unforgettable experience. The beach is sheltered to the north by the imposing Serra da Arrábida, with its white limestone formations covered in lush Mediterranean vegetation, creating a landscape that looks lifted from the Mediterranean. Access is limited, with a restricted number of visitors allowed per day, ensuring the preservation of the ecosystem. Due to its remote location, there are no beach facilities or infrastructure, so visitors must bring everything they need. Galapinhos is a destination for those who value wild nature, privacy, and the absolutely pristine beauty of the Portuguese coastline.
