About this beach
Praia Fluvial de Idanha-a-Nova is located on the Marechal Carmona Dam, built across the Ponsul river in 1946, in the heart of the Naturtejo UNESCO Geopark in Castelo Branco district. Known as one of Portugal's hottest summer destinations — temperatures regularly exceed 40 °C — the beach provides perfect shelter in its cool, still waters. Facilities include changing rooms, a bar, diving boards, boat hire, a nearby municipal campsite, and excellent road access. The surrounding landscape is part of the UNESCO-recognised Naturtejo Geopark.
