Moledo Beach
Caminha, Viana do Castelo
About this beach
Praia de Moledo is located at the far north of Portugal, at the mouth of the Minho River, in the municipality of Caminha. Stretching over 4 km, it is one of the longest beaches on the Portuguese coast, characterized by fine golden sands and a peaceful, uncrowded atmosphere. To the north, Monte de Santa Tecla — already in Galician territory — provides a unique and culturally rich landscape backdrop. The Minho estuary creates a microclimate with calmer waters in the inner area, making Moledo ideal for family swimming. Constant winds and wave conditions make this beach a reference destination for kitesurfing, windsurfing and surfing. The preserved dune landscape and coastal vegetation form a valuable ecosystem. The village of Moledo do Minho offers support infrastructure, seafood restaurants, and an authentic northern Portuguese atmosphere. The beach is also part of the coastal cycling route connecting Caminha to the Spanish border.
