The Praia Fluvial do Pego do Altar is located on the Pego do Altar reservoir, in the parish of Santa Susana, municipality of Alcácer do Sal, district of Setúbal, in the Alentejo Litoral region. It is a river beach formed by the dammed waters of the Ribeira das Alcáçovas, a tributary of the river Sado, next to the dam built in 1949 for agricultural use of the Sado valley and for hydroelectric power generation.

The bathing area is sought mainly for sport fishing, swimming, sailing and windsurfing, in a peaceful setting surrounded by cork oaks and quiet corners ideal for picnics.
