About this beach
The Albufeira de Vilarinho das Furnas, in the municipality of Terras de Bouro, submerged the former communal village of Vilarinho das Furnas, whose remains are still visible when the water level drops. Surrounded by mountains within the Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês, it is one of the park's most photographed landscapes, next to the Cerdeira campsite. There is no lifeguard supervision or formal bathing facilities — local authorities warn of the risks of unsupervised swimming, so caution is essential.
