About this beach
Praia Fluvial de Fronteira is located in the town of Fronteira, in the Portalegre district, taking advantage of the waters of the Ribeira Grande by the Barragem da Apartadura, in the heart of Alto Alentejo. It is a peaceful bathing area, surrounded by the Alentejo plain, with still waters milder than mountain river beaches, which makes it especially popular with families. The beach has been awarded the "Accessible Beach" distinction and, in some years, Blue Flag, reflecting the municipality’s investment in water quality and infrastructure. It has a lifeguarded bathing area in peak season, a picnic park and green spaces for picnics, and is a popular stop for those visiting the historic region of Elvas, Estremoz or Portalegre.
