Praia Fluvial de Mosteiros

Praia Fluvial de Mosteiros sits on the Ribeira de Arronches, next to the village of Mosteiros, in the municipality of Arronches, Portalegre district, in inland Alentejo. It is a river beach along the municipal road M517, which follows the stream as it leaves the village, a few kilometres from the Spanish border.

A small weir forms mirrors of water that reflect the trees along the bank, creating two natural bathing pools, one usually fuller than the other, with a small diving jetty on one side. The water is spring-fed by the stream, with no known sewage discharges. On one bank there is a café with a terrace, surrounded by grassy areas and a picnic park, popular with Portuguese and Spanish bathers in summer. The village of Mosteiros lies on the edge of the Parque Natural da Serra de São Mamede, near the waterfall and natural pool of Pego do Inferno.
