Vila Nova de Milfontes Beach, in the municipality of Odemira, is the most famous and lively beach on the Alentejo coast. Located at the mouth of the Mira River, where the calmer estuary waters meet the Atlantic, it offers fine golden sand, a historic village centre next to the beach, and a wide range of restaurants and shops.
