About this beach

Praia da Arrifana is one of the most dramatic and spectacular beaches on the Vicentine Coast, nestled between sheer schist cliffs in the municipality of Aljezur, within the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. Stretching roughly 500 metres of golden sand lapped by excellent-quality water, it is a paradise for surfers worldwide thanks to its consistent, powerful waves. The fishing village of Arrifana, with the ruins of a 17th-century fort perched on the headland, lends the landscape a unique historic grandeur. It holds Blue Flag status and provides full beach support services during the bathing season.
