About this beach
Praia da Lagoa is one of Póvoa de Varzim's eight Blue Flag beaches, set along the city's seafront promenade and one of the area's most popular spots for learning to surf and bodyboard. Offshore, Ilhéu Forcado is visible, a distinctive rock formation in the local landscape. The beach is white sand, with some rocky outcrops visible at low tide. The beach is classified as accessible, with a ramp and rigid walkway to the sand, adapted restrooms, reserved parking, and an amphibious wheelchair available by prior booking through the municipality. It also has seasonal lifeguard service, restaurants, and the traditional Bar da Praia, a well-known meeting point in Póvoa de Varzim's nightlife.
