About this beach
Praia de Suave Mar lies at the mouth of the Cávado river in Esposende, a short walk from the city centre and marina, within Parque Natural do Litoral Norte. It is divided into three sections (North, Centre and South) along a long stretch of pale sand, flanked by primary dunes and pine forest. It is popular with surfers, bodyboarders and windsurfers and kitesurfers for its more exposed wind and swell conditions than neighbouring Praia de Ofir on the other side of the river. Facilities include seasonal lifeguard, parking (including accessible spaces), beach support with restaurant and bar, toilets, showers and foot-wash stations, sunshade and sunbed hire, first-aid post and bicycle parking, with access via the Ecovia do Litoral Norte.
