About this beach
Praia da Vigia is a remote, cliff-backed beach in the São João das Lampas parish (Sintra), one of the municipality's largest sandy stretches (roughly 1.4 to 2 km), which connects to neighbouring Praia de São Julião at low tide. Access is via a steep, unmarked trail from the clifftop near Assafora, and the beach is unguarded with no facilities. The surf is powerful, a mix of reef and beach break best suited to intermediate/advanced surfers (best April-September, W/NW swell).
