About this beach
Praia da Poça, in São João do Estoril, is a small urban beach popular with local families for its tide pools at low tide and, when the swell picks up, with surfers. It sits beneath the Forte de São Teodósio da Cadaveira (1642-43), a listed Property of Public Interest, next to Villa São Paulo, a 1911 mansion now used as an events venue. It held the Blue Flag from 2006 to 2017, but is not on the 2026 award list.
