Praia Grande is one of the most extensive and popular beaches on the Sintra Coastline, in the municipality of Sintra, just a few minutes' drive from the historic village of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With its vast stretch of fine dark sand, characteristic of the Atlantic beaches of this coast, Praia Grande extends for nearly 2 km, making it one of the longest beaches on the Lisbon coastline. It is considered one of the best surf spots in the Lisbon region, with regular quality waves attracting surfers of all levels, and several surf schools established along the seafront. One of Praia Grande's greatest attractions is its magnificent natural ocean pool, sculpted into the rocks at low tide, offering safe conditions for bathers who prefer a calmer dip. The extensive promenade, with restaurants, bars, and cafes, brings life to the beachfront throughout the bathing season. The beach has a Blue Flag, lifeguard post, car park, and complete beach support. The natural setting is stunning, with the Serra de Sintra providing a green backdrop to the rugged coast.
