About this beach
Praia de Labruge, in Vila do Conde, is the largest stretch of sandy beach in the municipality, with around 1 km of Blue Flag beach, Gold Quality award and accessible beach classification. It lies between the mouth of the rio Ave and the rio Onda, on a consolidated dune belt with a rural backdrop, and forms part of the Caminho Português da Costa de Santiago, being a recognised stop on the route (with a municipal albergue nearby). Access is easy, via elevated wooden boardwalks over the dunes. It has seasonal lifeguard service, a car park, beach facilities with a bar and restaurant, and adapted restrooms. The rocky formations dotted along the sand make the water calmer and safer for children in some sections.
